Visiting Graduate Student
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana
I am a graduate student in the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana, where I am pursuing a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Pharmaceutical Microbiology.
My reseach interest is in isolating compounds with antimicrobial/anti-parasitic activities.
In CDIPD, I am working with the group of Dr. Conor Caffrey to test the anti-parasitic activities of natural products (NPs) that I have been working on as part of my MPhil research at KNUST. These NPs will be tested against a variety of parasites available in the Center for Discovery and Innovation in Parasitic Diseases (CDIPD). Antimicrobial activity has been detected for some of these NPs and now we hope to determine the antiparasitic activity of these compounds in order to target microbes and parasites of major concern in Ghana.
